The Multi-Dimensional Miles Morales

Miles Morales conception in 2011 brought a lot of different opinions, most people were just upset that Ultimate Spider-man was killed seemingly out of nowhere, but Brian Michael Bendis knew what he was doing when he created this phenom. With the conception of this new Spiderman the universe opened so much more, but somehow became way more connected. Miles has been through the wringer since he has dawned the Spidey mask, and some would even say that he’s a better Spiderman than the original because he’s faced bigger enemies and tribulations in such a short time compared to the other Spiderman’s.
Miles was forced into the hero mantel, after feeling guilty for not helping the ultimate universes’ Peter Parker ultimately resulting in Peters death. Upon taking the mantel he was faced with the challenge of Omega Red, one his first real solo villains, a guy who has faced Wolverine often. This Villain isn’t the crème of the crop but the history of guys he has faced in the past really show that this could have really been a challenge for Miles but with the use of his Venom Blast he made short work of the OG Villain complete with witty quips and all. He learned that his uncle and father used to be criminals, and that his uncle, the prowler, was the reason why he had gotten bitten in the first place. Upon receiving Ultimate Peter Parker’s web shooters from Gwen Stacy and Aunt May, Captain Americas hydra ass tried to deter Miles from taking up the mantel of Spiderman because he felt he needed more training but the next couple of years he would get the crash course training he truly needed thanks to the spider verse.
Throughout Miles growth he is recklessly thrown in and out of the spider verse, and dare I say he is the first Spiderman to meet and interact with ALL other Spiderman’s: Spider-Men connected young Miles with Earth 616’s Peter Parker, where initially they fight resulting in Miles knocking out Peter, they then work together to defeat Mysterio and right this interdimensional wrong. Miles loses his mom in a fight with Venom and swears off the Spider-man for a whole year until Jessica Drew convinced him to pick up the mantle again. This leads him to fight with Galactus alongside the Ultimates who eventually become the Young Ultimates in memory of Captain America. After the events of The Ultimates, he fights alongside a clone Spidey to defeat Norman Osborne, then he’s captured by hydra where he discovers that stress amplifies his venom shock, helping him escape from the cage they held him in. In the Secret Wars Miles led the rebellion against God Emperor Doom and served as a big part in getting the two collided universes back to normal. I love this story line a lot because he gets his mother back after giving molecule man a burger in his pocket thus saving the captured villain and causing him to be indebted to Miles. The actions of the Secret Wars even plopped Miles in the Avengers. He was even in S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Samuel L. Jackson Fury’s S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s fought against hydra, met Knull and in the events of Spider-Geddon had Miles lead The Spider-Army which (if you didn’t guess) is an army of Spiderman’s from every possible dimension. He’s helped Spider-Ma’am, Spider-Zero, SP//dr, and one of my favorites Spider-Man Noir all different spiders from different dimensions. Ultimatum revealed a huge secret that I really don't want to ruin for those looking to catch up and he has even found time to team up with Ben Reilly recently. Miles jumps dimensions like buildings, it’s really kind of dope. It has become a huge part of the Miles Morales that we have all grown to love.
This is a huge deal that I believe skyrockets Miles to the best Spiderman category, if not the best, then definitely the most fleshed out. He learns so much in such a compressed amount of time from every type of Spiderman there is. He has even led every Spiderman in existence to victory in The Spider Army. His space and time warps have placed him in the most opportune moments in recent marvel history. He’s been in some of the coolest teams in existence; The Spider-Army, The Avengers, Young Ultimates, S.H.I.E.L.D, The Babysitters, and the Champions. Not to mention his character has so much depth the recent developments within Marvels 616 universe will Ultimately blow your mind. Even if he isn’t the best, he is definitely my favorite Spiderman in todays Marvel roster. I look forward to whatever twist and turns the comic panels take me to next.
